YouTube API Services

ShortEdge uses YouTube API Services. By connecting your YouTube channel, you let ShortEdge — with your explicit consent — upload the videos you generate in ShortEdge to your own channel and display your channel's public statistics in your dashboard.

What we access. When you connect your channel through Google OAuth, we request the youtube.upload and youtube.readonly scopes. We use them only to (1) upload videos you create in ShortEdge to your own connected channel, and (2) read your channel's public details and statistics (title, subscriber count, view count, video count) to show them in your dashboard. We never access channels you have not connected and never upload to any channel other than your own.

What we store. We store an OAuth refresh token so we can perform the uploads you request, together with your channel's public title and statistics. We do not store any other YouTube user data, and we do not share YouTube data with third parties or use it for advertising.

Retention and deletion. Your YouTube authorization (refresh token) is deleted immediately when you disconnect your channel in ShortEdge or delete your account. Stored public statistics are removed within 30 days of account deletion.

Revoking access. You can revoke ShortEdge's access to your YouTube account at any time by disconnecting it in ShortEdge, or through your Google Account security settings.

What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. When you use ShortEdge, we store the content you generate (scripts, metadata, voiceover files) and basic usage data (generation counts, timestamps) to provide the service.

How we use your data

  • To provide and improve the ShortEdge service
  • To manage your account and subscription
  • To send transactional emails (password resets, billing receipts)
  • To monitor service health and prevent abuse

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Third-party services

ShortEdge uses the following third-party services to operate:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Stripe handles all card data directly; we never store card numbers.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — AI script generation. Prompts and generated scripts are sent to and from Anthropic's API.
  • ElevenLabs — AI voiceover generation. Script text is sent to ElevenLabs to produce audio files.
  • Google (Imagen) — AI image generation. Visual prompts are sent to Google's API to produce storyboard images.
  • YouTube Data API (Google) — to upload videos to your connected channel and read its public statistics. See the YouTube API Services section above.
  • Sentry — error monitoring (if enabled). Collects anonymized error reports to help us fix bugs.

Data retention

Your generated content is stored as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed within 30 days.

Cookies

ShortEdge uses a JWT token stored in your browser's localStorage for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
